Burning Issue raises £2,791.08 for The Fire Fighters Charity
Brett Tudor, editor of the Burning Issue magazine, recently travelled to Jubilee Therapy Centre in Penrith to present the Charity with a cheque for £2,791.08.
The money was raised in 2009 by the staff at United Awareness Publishing, some of whom took time out to organise and take part in their Fire Fighters Football Tournament held in Chester.
Eighteen teams of Fire Fighters from all over the country, including teams from Tyne and Wear, Cheshire, Merseyside, North Wales Mid and West Wales, Nottingham, Derbyshire and eventual winners Lincolnshire battled it out with the cream of Chester's amateur football talent for the Burning Issue trophy.
Event organiser Gary Cameron commented at the event "This was a really enjoyable day for all concerned and it was well worth the effort the Burning Issue team and I put into organising it. I'd like to thank all my staff for their hard work, the football teams for making this a hard fought contest, all our sponsors who kindly donated some great prizes for the raffles and the winning teams on the day"
The Burning Issue has been a keen supporter of The Fire Fighters Charity, its nominated charity, for a number of years and staff at United Awareness Publishing are working on further fundraising activities in 2010.
