The Fire Fighters Charity appoints new Chief Executive
The Fire Fighters Charity has announced the appointment of its new Chief Executive, Jan Barlow, who took up post on 15th February 2010.
Jan brings with her a wealth of experience from both the charity and public sectors. Her most recent position was at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home where she was Chief Executive for over three years.
Previous leadership roles include CEO for Brook Advisory Centres and Head of Corporate Affairs for Save the Children. Prior to this, Jan worked for the public health service in the NHS.
The Hampshire based Charity which supports injured fire fighters and their dependents, owns and runs three therapy centres in Devon, Cumbria and West Sussex. Each centre offers varying combinations of rehabilitation and recuperation services.
Jan said: "I'm thrilled to have been appointed Chief Executive of The Fire Fighters Charity. I have known of the Charity for some time and I am very aware of the first class facilities and services that it provides which enable fire fighters to return to their position in the community quicker.”
Ms Barlow also commented on how her position will enable her to strengthen the Charity’s mission in becoming the UK’s national authority for providing active care to fire fighters and burns survivors. “This will result in an expansion of our centres, the on-going development of the highly successful Beneficiary Support Services and installing stronger research to measure the social-economic impact of the Charity.”
Chairman for The Fire Fighters Charity, Keith MacGillivray said “We are delighted to have Jan on board; her wealth of experience will be an asset to the Charity. I look forward to working with her.”
